claims that Serbian authorities were involved in the
Vranshkovski (Bishop Jovan) case, President Branko Crvenkovski said Tuesday that Macedonian Orthodox Church (MPC)
Archbishop HH Stefan had informed him and PM Vlado
Buckovski on Monday that MPC had acquired certain
written documents that confirmed the direct involvement of the Serbian
Government in financing the activities of the so-called
Ohrid Archbishopric and Zoran
Vraniskovski in Macedonia. "If this
is confirmed, such actions of the Serbian Government do not contribute to the
strengthening of good relations between the two neighboring countries, nor the
secularism pledged by all (governments). Furthermore, this can also be
interpreted as interference in the internal affairs of another sovereign
state", Crvenkovski stressed. The
President underlined that they had agreed with Buckovski
and HH Stefan that certain institutions, such as the ministries of interior,
justice and foreign affairs should undertake appropriate measures and
activities in the upcoming period, following review and determination of the
documents' authenticity. |
